Wesley Chapel YMCA: Hours, Rates and Family Programs

On Monday morning, Sept. 28, the ribbon was cut at a two-story, 49,319-square-foot building at 4379 Wellbeing Way, right next door to BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel. The Mary W. Sierra Family YMCA is the first YMCA in Wesley Chapel. It cost $35 million and sits on land leased from BayCare Health System.

More than 6,300 people had joined before it opened. That number explains most of what changed around Wesley Chapel this fall. The new places that actually opened on schedule are mostly small and spread out. The one with a membership list already in the thousands is a community building on a hospital campus.

Why the opening-day number matters

The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA expects the branch to serve more than 40,000 households and create more than 300 jobs in Pasco County, as Spectrum Bay News 9 reported. Measured against that goal, the 6,300 opening-day members are an early share of a much larger expected base. And the building opened full of members, not waiting for them to show up.

Tampa YMCA President and CEO Matt Mitchell put the site choice plainly: "Wherever there's a new community coming in, we like to put a new YMCA." Bay News 9 also reported that the YMCA and BayCare plan to offer wellness and medical care side by side, which is the point of putting the Y on hospital land.

Here's what's inside, based on the opening coverage and the YMCA's own program guide:

  • An aquatic center with lap and teaching pools plus a family adventure pool
  • A gymnasium, group exercise studios and a wellness area with smart strength-training equipment
  • Supervised drop-in child watch
  • Swim lessons for ages six months through adults
  • Youth basketball, soccer and volleyball, Lil Rookies clinics and Kids' Day Out
  • Chronic disease prevention programs

What it costs and when it's open

The branch's posted hours are 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The branch page still has some leftover pre-opening text saying the doors aren't open yet. The opening coverage confirms they are.

Monthly rates on the YMCA's membership page, as of September 2026:

Membership Monthly rate
Family $98
Two-person household $90
Senior couple $75
Individual, 30+ $58
Senior, 62+ $48
Individual, ages 20–29 $45
Teen, 13–19 $39

For two adults, the household plan saves $26 a month compared with two individual 30+ memberships. The family plan costs $8 more than the two-person plan. The same page advertises a $0 joining fee, but the rate table next to it still lists standard join fees from $15 to $75 depending on the plan. Confirm the actual amount before checking out.

Memberships are month to month with no long-term contract, and they include access to other Tampa YMCA locations. Guest day passes are available for what the YMCA's FAQ calls a "nominal fee." The FAQ doesn't list a dollar amount and sends visitors to the branch Welcome Center for details.

The first program date on the calendar is Monday, Oct. 12, a non-school day with a Kids' Day Out session for ages 5 to 12. It includes themed activities, games, crafts and swimming. Standard pricing is $42 for members and $60 for nonmembers. Registering early drops those to $35 and $52. For a nonmember family, early registration saves the same $8 the member discount does on the standard price.

The food map grew one storefront at a time

The restaurant openings since summer are real, but each one is a single storefront on a different stretch of road. None of them is a new destination on the scale of the Y.

Place Location Status as of Sept. 30, 2026
Bonchon The Hub at Lexington Open since May 20
Hummus Republic 26962 Halter Loop, The Hub at Lexington Open since July 20
1916 Irish Pub 27315 Wesley Chapel Blvd., Towne Centre at Wesley Chapel Opened in July
CAVA South side of S.R. 56 Open since roughly early August
Bubbakoo's Burritos 33791 Wesley Chapel Blvd., near Summertree Plaza Open since Sept. 16
Tiên's Sandwich 2557 Mansfield Blvd. Aiming for November

1916 Irish Pub moved into the old Beef 'O' Brady's space at Old Pasco Road and held its grand-opening celebration in late July. Bubbakoo's is the chain's second location in Pasco County. The Tampa Bay Times reported on Sept. 21 that Tiên's Sandwich plans to serve bánh mì, boba tea and other Vietnamese dishes. That would bring a cuisine to Mansfield Boulevard that none of the summer openings covered.

As of the May 24 update, The Hub at Lexington had six tenants open: Headlines Barber Shop, La Creacion Bistro, The Clubhouse golf simulator, Pet Wants, Lexington Nail Lab and Bonchon. Hummus Republic made at least seven when it opened in July.

What still doesn't have a date

The bigger names announced for Wesley Chapel are still in the planning stage. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reported in August that The Fresh Market is planned as the anchor of the first phase of a Wiregrass Ranch plaza, which would be its first Pasco County store. A Sept. 7 local update on the plaza at S.R. 56 and Mansfield Boulevard said county review was still underway. No construction timeline or opening date had been set, and the grocer hadn't publicly confirmed the location.

At The Hub at Lexington, the May roster listed Saigon Pho with a July target. It also listed Cinnaholic, The Monk's, Island Grill, Farmer's Milk, Brew Bar Self Pour and Urban Crunch Creamery Café as coming soon. We haven't found a later public update confirming any of those as open. A Pasco Community report in May also expected a Hub grand-opening event sometime in September but gave no date. With September ending today, the safest move is to treat those names as announced, not open, until the doors are.

So on the last day of September, Wellbeing Way is the one new address in Wesley Chapel that is open, staffed and already serving thousands of members, with posted hours and an October program on the calendar.

The October dates worth writing down now

The YMCA's Oct. 12 session falls in a month that's already busy across east Pasco:

  1. Saturday, Oct. 3: The free Gardening 365 Festival & Plant Sale runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Road, with plant sales, seminars, food and a kids' zone, according to Pasco County.
  2. Weekends through Nov. 1: Dade City Farms holds its Fall Festival every Saturday and Sunday in October plus Sunday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with hayrides, animals, pumpkins and food trucks.
  3. Saturday, Oct. 10: The Pioneer Florida Museum's Scarecrow Festival runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with scarecrow-building, pumpkin activities, vendors and food trucks.
  4. Monday, Oct. 12: Kids' Day Out at the Mary W. Sierra Family YMCA.
  5. Oct. 22–25: The 22nd Annual Wesley Chapel Fall Festival at The Grove at Wesley Chapel. Dreamland Amusements' carnival opens Oct. 22, and the main festival runs Oct. 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The weekend includes a Kids Zone, costume contests for kids and pets, a Trick-or-Treat Stroll and the North Tampa Bay Chamber Business Expo.
  6. Saturday, Oct. 24: Pioneers and Beers at the Pioneer Florida Museum, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with craft beer and spirits tastings, local vendors and a cornhole tournament.

Oct. 24 is the busiest day on the list. The Fall Festival weekend at The Grove and Pioneers and Beers in Dade City run at the same time that Saturday, so plan for one or split the day.

New buildings like the YMCA tend to change which parts of Wesley Chapel feel close to home, and which streets people end up driving every week.
